Description

My processing skills have greatly improved over the past 3 years. The weather has been painfully bad for the past 3 months, so I started reprocessing my old subs.

Two years ago I was shooting with a Canon DSLR lens. Too little did I know about astrophotography. Yet to my surprise I was able to gather much much more than my previous attempt.

For that I have applied all of my skills and dedication. Restarting from stack :') as many times as necessary. I have also applied new skills, as working with a lens has it's own challenges.

In particular I have explored the world of gnomonic projections. Building a distortion map with ImageSolver and a star field with CatalogsStars and aligning my subs with those.

I believe including this step, correcting for the lens distortion greatly improved my stacks.

As my bin2x2 RGB felt very under sampled I decided to deconvolve them too. That greatly improved sampling, but induced chromatic aberrations. I feel this is the main flaw in this work. I am more than happy with the result and don't think it is worth trying to reduce it further.
